Khandeshwar Bridge, Navi Mumbai

The 650m long road overbridge is provided to cross four broad gauge lines and two road crossings.  The bridge consists of two 8m wide (2 lane) independent carriageways (10m wide overall) with 1m wide kerb and parapet construction on either side.  These are separated by a gap of 6m. Provision is made in the design to build a separate carriageway in between, so that eventually it becomes a 6 lane, 24m wide carriageway (26m overall).

The bridge portion consists of reinforced concrete slabs spanning 13.2m monolithic with reinforced concrete piers resting on open foundations.  This structural system has been adopted to enable faster construction and a shallower super structural depth (only 650mm).
