Short flights of steps near the start of each ramp, and climbing up the arch profile on either side of the horizontal, are intended to discourage motor-cyclists from riding over the ramps and the bridge. Construction was cast in-situ, with the exception of the horizontal deck slabs, which were precast.

The inverted octagonal-section edge beams on either side of the access ramps eliminate the need for a separate railing.

br-jui06.jpg (20986 bytes)

The cross-sections of the arch members and the inverted ramp beams are identical.

For this bridge, SPA received the Most Outstanding Bridge National Award (Aesthetics), Indian Institution of Bridge Engineers, 1997.
