Introduction :

Vasudev V Nori is a Civil Engineer whose interests include :

  • the engineering design and construction of tall buildings, industrial structures, marine structures, bridges and enabling structures

  • infrastructure planning and development setting out design, analysis and drafting procedures with a view to render high quality professional good maintain a automation of design and drafting procedures interaction with academic institutions as an external examiner, members of board of studies, delivering lectures on special topics participation in spiritual and service activities.

  • He joined the firm in 1965 as a Senior Engineer.

Representative Project Experience :
Design and overall charge of Administrative building for Engineering Construction Corporation (L&T) at Madras. This is a five storeyed structure constructed in two stages. The entire structure is supported on four main columns. (1978-80, 1988-89). Winner of FIP award for Most Outstanding Structure at the XII FIP Congress at Washington 1994.

Development and design of pre assembled structural steel stressed skin roof with a module of 12m x 20 m for the Integral Coach Factory at Kapurthala. This light roof unit has been extensively used for covering over 1 Lac m2 of factory area(1986-88)

Design and overall charge of Panval Nadi Viaduct at Ratnagiri for Konkan Railway Corporation. This is the first application of incremental launching for prestressed bridges in India. The bridge is a 423 m long prestressed box girder with 40 m spans. The tallest of the piers is 64 m above the river bed. The piers consist of hollow octagonal concrete section with a vertical batter of 1 in 40 ( 1992-1994)

Design and overall charge of bridge across Nandivali Nullah for Konkan Railway Corporation. The bridge is 72 m long and in reinforced concrete. The main span consists of a stiffened arch spanning 36 m across the nullah. (1992-1994)

Design and overall charge of bridge across Multi cell culvert at Vilawade for Konkan Railway Corporation. The embankment runs about 17 m above. The culvert is a three cell box culvert with folded roof making the structure slender. (1993-1994)

Design and overall charge of a road over bridge at Madgaon for Konkan Railway Corporation. The bridge is 650 m long with a 7.50 m carriage way in reinforced concrete monolithic with single columns spaced at about 16m. Most of the spans are curved and the expansion joints are about 100 m apart. (1995-1996)

Design and overall charge of restoration of a Heritage structure with a 80 high apartment building with a double basement (Buckley Court). The scheme requires very careful dovetailing of old masonry construction with a deep basement and a modern concrete tower block. (1995-1998)
